Founded in 1856 and accredited by the Middle States Association, Albright College is ranked in the top 200 liberal arts schools in the country according to the U.S. News Ranking. A private, coeducational college offering a four-year liberal arts program, Albright bears the motto, "A Different Way of Thinking", and Albright College has made a name for itself by allowing students to graduate with over 200 different combinations of majors. Albright College provides its students with the sense of freedom to explore those subjects that best suit their strengths and interests, creating an environment in which people can fully reach their potential.
Albright students create their academic paths in partnership with faculty advisers and professors. Students may choose to focus on a single field of study - or combine two or three to create an individualized major. Half of our students graduate with combined, interdisciplinary or multiple majors. Last year, for example, students created more than 200 different combinations of majors.
The college is located on a scenic, suburban 118-acre campus in the town of Reading, Pennsylvania., with a population of 80,000. Just an hour from Philadelphia, two hours from Baltimore and Washington D.C. and only three hours from New York City, it offers easy access to some of America's most exciting cities. Albright offers coed and single-sex housing. There are six traditional residence halls. and rooms are generally 12' x 12.' Rooms are furnished with desks, desk chairs, beds, dressers and closets. All rooms have blinds. Students may bring their own curtains. Beds are oversized twins. You should purchase twin extra-long sheets. You can also purchase sheets through the Resident Student Association. All rooms are equipped with a micro-fridge. Telephone service and basic cable are available immediately on your arrival. Students are responsible for providing their own telephone, television, and television card.
On campus activities and facilities include the arts, fitness and health centers, language laboratory, life-sports center, swimming pool, personal/psychological counseling center, women’s center, radio station, writing center and a computerized library with 185,000 volumes and 700 periodicals. Albright has more than 250 computers in classrooms, labs and the library. Drama/theater group, choral group, instrumental groups, intercollegiate and intramural sports, 70 student-run organizations including international students group.
